Job Description
**Who We Are**
EdgeBeam is the world’s first Hybrid Network Operator (HNO)—a foundational layer at the edge enabling one\-to\-many data distribution for today’s wireless networks. We create \& sell wireless services and solutions that solve edge connectivity challenges to connect people, data \& devices through the untapped potential of broadcast networks.
**Location \& Work Dynamics**
This is a fully onsite role at our Boston Seaport office. We've found that proximity is an accelerator: ideas move faster, problems get solved at the whiteboard, and the wins are louder when the whole team is in the room for them. That's how we win together, so we're prioritizing candidates who currently live in the greater Boston area.
**Role Overview**
This is a hands\-on, senior individual\-contributor role (no direct reports). You will design and build the device\-side software for our hybrid connectivity devices supporting ATSC 3\.0 and cellular networks, and build the modular, reusable software platform and libraries at the core of our full product line. You will be the technical authority for embedded work, setting direction and making architecture decisions while spending most of your time in the code. Influence here comes from what you build and the standards you set, not from managing a team.
**What You Will Do**
* Design and build embedded software for hybrid connectivity devices (broadcast \+ cellular), hands\-on.
* Integrate ATSC 3\.0 broadcast and cellular connectivity stacks into a unified, reusable multi\-device software platform.
* Implement device\-side networking, data handling, and failover logic across multiple delivery paths.
* Build support for OTA updates, device provisioning, and lifecycle management at the firmware and software levels.
* Partner with platform, network, and cloud teams to align device capabilities and integrate telemetry, control, and observability.
* Work closely with hardware vendors to ensure tight hardware\-software integration.
* Support external partner integrations and SDK adoption.
* Set best practices and technical direction for performance, reliability, and security in embedded environments.
* Own and build the most critical components, and the testing systems and scripts that keep them solid.
**What You Bring**
* Strong embedded software development in C/C\+\+ on Linux, ideally with the Yocto Project, plus scripting (e.g., Python).
* Proven track record designing modular, maintainable embedded architectures.
* Solid experience with networking stacks and protocols (IP, TCP/UDP).
* Hands\-on experience integrating hardware and software systems, with a good understanding of key hardware components.
* Strong debugging skills in resource\-constrained, system\-level environments.
* Comfortable leading technical design and making architecture decisions as an individual contributor.
* Experience in agile development environments, with the ability to plan and build testing systems and scripts.
* An AI first mindset and an ability to solve and implement using AI
* **Bonus:** broadcast technologies (e.g., ATSC 3\.0\) or cellular modules; multicast distribution and routing; building SDKs, libraries, or platforms for third\-party developers; device management, OTA, or remote provisioning; IoT or large\-scale device deployments; and security in embedded systems (secure boot, decryption workflows).
**Our Values**
At EdgeBeam, we operate with a shared set of values:
* **Customers First** — We put our customers' objectives and pain points ahead of our own.
* **Dig Deep** — We are technically curious and thorough in execution. We don’t cream skim.
* **Win Together** — Collaboration is in our DNA.
* **Disagree \& Commit** — We welcome constructive conflict. Once we have made a decision, we are behind that decision 100%.
* **No Jerks** — EdgeBeam is not a place for jerks.
**What Success Looks Like**
**30 Days**: Ramp on the system architecture, key design decisions, and relevant standards, and begin contributing within the existing codebase.
**90 Days:** Integrate effectively with the development teams, work confidently with lab systems and QA workflows, and contribute to ongoing design efforts.
**180 Days:** Deliver software for the Gen 2 hybrid system, contribute to the design of the Gen 3 hybrid system, and operate as a fully engaged contributor providing meaningful design input.
