**LOCATION:** Pike Road Schools
**REPORTS TO:** School Principal and Child Nutrition Program Manager
**FLSA STATUS:** Non\-Exempt
**TERMS:** 182\-Day appointment compensated in accordance with the Board\-approved salary schedule
**JOB GOAL:**
* Assist in the management of the Child Nutrition Program.
* Demonstrate excellent customer service while preparing food that is attractive and nutritious.
* Serve meals in a friendly and efficient manner in accordance with federal, state and local regulations.
**QUALIFICATIONS:**
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Experience in a Child Nutrition Program (CNP) preferred
* Knowledge of and ability to follow CNP guidelines and regulations.
* Two (2\) years of practical experience in the preparation and service of foods to large groups of people; school lunchroom or institutional experience preferred.
* Ability to possess and maintain food safety certification provided by the Montgomery County Health Department (be ServSafe Certified or earn certification within 90 days of hiring) is preferred.
* Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002\-457\.
* Ability to operate and maintain kitchen equipment necessary for the performance of job responsibilities.
* Ability to successfully perform all tasks assigned to CNP workers as well as the ability to train employees to perform them.
* Ability to carry out verbal and written instructions and demonstrate effective interpersonal skills.
* Ability to communicate effectively in English.
* Ability to use technology as required to perform job responsibilities.
* Ability to assist in the supervision and development of assigned personnel according to school system procedures.
* Ability to demonstrate leadership, organization, collaboration, and planning skills to accomplish school goals and job requirements.
* Strength, stamina, agility, dexterity, and acuity to perform job responsibilities safely and effectively.
* Ability, agility, and stamina to engage in prolonged standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, turning, reaching, and repetitive lifting up to 30 pounds.
* Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
* Ability to be punctual and maintain regular attendance.
* Such alternative qualifications to those listed above as the Board may require.
**PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:**
* Demonstrate support for the school system and its goals and priorities.
* Work cooperatively and productively with the principal and supervisors to ensure the system’s vision, goals and strategies are implemented, providing all pertinent data to appropriate personnel within the designated time frame.
* Perform duties in a courteous and professional manner.
* Assure the security of food and supply inventory.
* Manage daily money deposits and other financial functions.
* Manage cash handling procedures and monitor cashiers for adherence to standards.
* Communicate district and department policies and procedures to staff.
* Oversee the implementation and maintenance of safety training and food sanitation program (HACCP).
* Develop and implement written work schedules.
* Cooperate with the principal and staff in planning, developing, and utilizing the school foodservice program to effect maximum benefits to the school and community.
* Supervise and evaluate food service personnel; recommend employees for appointment, reappointment, transfer, and termination.
* Maintain high standards of sanitation and safety as well as food quality and presentation.
* Maintain a required system for proper control of cash, food, supplies, equipment and personnel.
* Manage computer point‐of‐sale systems at the school level.
* Instruct employees in regulations and procedures and conduct continuous on‐the‐job training for food service personnel.
* Motivate employees to participate in professional self‐improvement activities.
* Exercise managerial skills to control labor, food, and non‐food costs.
* Plan and direct the production, merchandising and nutrition education for the school food service program.
* Willing and able to assume any role or job function in the CNP area as needed.
* Assume the role of and perform all tasks and responsibilities of the CNP Manager when needed.
* Willing to temporarily work at another school within the district when needed.
* Order supplies according to established specifications, determined by menu, volume and student needs.
* Recommend the purchase, repair and replacement of equipment.
* Communicate effectively with the staff members, students, parents, administrators and other contact persons using tact and good judgment.
* Follow attendance, punctuality and dress code rules.
* Maintain confidentiality regarding school and workplace matters.
* Model and maintain high ethical standards.
* Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities and in identifying potential problems or opportunities for improvement.
* Maintain expertise in the assigned area and participate successfully in the training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency related to assignment.
* Keep supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events.
* Exhibit interpersonal skills to work as an effective team member.
* Prepare all required reports and maintain appropriate records.
* Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
* Perform other job\-related duties as assigned by principal and/or supervisor.
**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:** Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects. Requires the ability to work in environment temperatures ranging from \-10℉ to 80℉ on a daily basis.
**EVALUATION:** Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the State Department of Education and/or the Pike Road Schools Board of Education policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
